About: David Masters

(better known as Central's pastor)

When did I start coming to Central? September 2003
Why do I come? It's my job, which I (most of the time) love and, on the days when I don't, my wife makes me!
Favourite Bible passage And we know that in all things God works for the good of those that love Him, who are called according to his purpose Romans 8:28
Why? I want to be a disciple on the good, mountain top days and the bad, bottom of the valley days! This verse helps me to take comfort that even when I feel that I am a bit a failure as a Christian, my loving heavenly father is still in charge and, because he called me to this ministry, he is working the end result out for his glory.
Favourite song Only one?! "To God be the Glory" Fanny J.Crosby
Why? It's the first song that's on my lips when I feel like worshipping (and when I don't), because it turns my eyes towards the God that has done everything I need to draw near to him now and for eternity!
What about home? Home is where my wife and my children are; being the child of a career soldier I got used to moving around a lot, having immediate family as your principle point of reference. I know I am in Southampton on a 'temporary posting', so, though the house I live in is on Devonshire road (the same road as the church), it only feels like home when I'm being hugged by those I love!
And work? I am the full time Pastor of the church, I attempt to care for the people that God has blessed the church with whilst trying to juggle the demands of developing the listed building we have inherited and trying to build relationships in the community in which He has placed us. A challenge would be an understatement...
Hobbies Playing strategy games, which I mainly do on the PC these days, comic collecting and watching Sci-fi. I have a killer video collection if anyone is interested in borrowing / trading some.
Favourite place in the world The Greensward, Frinton-on-sea, Essex. This is where I met my wife, and spent four crazy summers doing beach missions. One day I hope to be rich enough to be able to afford a house overlooking the beach there!
